Solo u A-duru, op. 69 Pravdana Devlahovića inicira pitanjima definiranja prostora oko tijela i gledanog prostora minimalnim promjenama koje svojom elaboracijom postepeno inficiraju cijelo tijelo.

CULTURE OF PLACE – PLACE OF CULTURE

Shortcut Europe 2012, this year’s congress of the European Network of Cultural Centres (ENCC), was held in Zagreb from 15 to 17 November 2012 in the Public Open University. It is organized in cooperation with the Trešnjevka Cultural Centre, the Public Open University Zagreb, and the Maksimir and Peščenica Cultural Centres, the Cultural and Information Centre (KIC) and the Dubrava People’s University.

Objectives of the Congress

  1. Implementation of cultural services offered by the network for cultural centres at the European level
  2. Promotion of intercultural dialogue and partnership
  3. Acceleration of the exchange of experiences among professional culture workers
  4. Articulation of the interests and strengthening of the role of cultural centres at the European level
  5. Discovery of financing possibilities for cultural centres and their networks

Long-Term Objectives

  • Strengthening of cultural centres as local focal points of culture
  • Foundation of a Croatian national network of Cultural Centres
  • Connecting with other networks in Croatia and with European cultural and education networks
  • Stimulating the development of cultural institutions in regions where such institutions do not exist

The venue itself is one of Zagreb’s most beautiful buildings of modern architecture (the work of Professor Radovan Nikšić), which will host various panels, round tables and poster presentations. Keynote speakers and discussion participants from Croatia and the EU will discuss specific elements of this year’s key topic – Culture of Place: Place of Culture – Cultural Centres and Urban Regeneration.

Since the ENCC represents a network of over 2500 cultural and community centres across Europe, it is fair to say that the ENCC is one of the major organizations in Europe which specializes in the subjects of culture, art and civil society. And as all thirteen of the city of Zagreb’s cultural centers will participate in this year’s congress, Shortcut Europe 2012 Zagreb is most certainly the place to be for all cultural, art or civil society professionals and enthusiasts who seek networking and exchange of ideas in Croatia and the EU.

Solo Me is a solo for two performers – a performance in which two different choreographic solo materials, opinions, processes come in touch with each other. Although both solos were made separately and can be performed as such, the performance focuses on the idea of juxtaposition, adjoining and refraction of one material in another.

Solo in A Major, op. 69, coreographed and performed by Pravdan Devlahović, initiates questions of defining the space surrounding his body (as a space that is being watched) by minimal alternations of movement which, in elaboration, gradually infect the whole body. Pravdan walks his choreographic material, passing through different points in the space in a way that the moment he finds the right spot he abandons it in search for a new one. By doing so he exposes his body to various perspectives in relation to the viewers, incorporating this consciousness of being watched all the time as an integral part of the performance.

And this is no longer a beginning, coreographed by Nikolina Pristaš and performed in alternation by Ana Kreitmeyer, is an attempt to thematize the act of (self) beginning. Thinking about the idea of multiple beginnings, reiterated attempts at always different quality of more or less the same movements brought her to the idea of writing one choreographic sentence in different (choreographic) fonts. The chosen fonts found their corporeal equivalents by means of different perspecitives, technical foci, formal strategies and orientations which, in process, redefine the differences in affective result in relation to the main sentence.
