Center for Culture and Information Maksimir invites you to the exhibition of the 14th Zagreb International Salon of Car Caricatures (14th Salon) on the topic of road rage in the lobby of the City Administration (Stjepan Radić Square) from November 26, 2020, where best caricatures will be awarded. The exhibition will remain open until December 7, 2020, 3 pm in the lobby of the City Administration (Stjepan Radić Square).

The 14th Zagreb International Salon of Car Caricatures (Salon) opened Thursday, November 26, 2020 at 12.15 pm in the lobby of the City Administration (Stjepan Radić Square 1). The theme of this year’s Salon has attracted caricaturists from all over the world who have depicted everyday situations on the topic of ROAD RAGE in a clever and imaginative way. The competition included 355 authors from 58 countries, and 355 caricatures (out of the 566 which were sent in) are exhibited.

After the introductory speech by Mr Goran Jerković (head of the Center for Culture and Information Maksimir, organizer of the 14th Salon), Mr Ivica Lovrić, MSc, head of the City Office for Education, addressed the attendees in the name of the sponsor of the Salon, the Mayor, Mr Milan Bandić, and the City of Zagreb. He pointed out the important role of Mr Ivica Palatinuš, author of the Salon, and opened the exhibition. The president of the jury, Mr Nenad Zuber, mag.ing.traff., explained the work and decisions of the jury, after which the members of the jury: Mr Tomislav Buntak, dean of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, president of the jury, MSc Nenad Zuber, Mr Ante Lebo and MSc Ivica Lovrić, delivered the certificates and testimonies to awarded authors and ambassadors or named embassy representatives of the awarded authors’ countries.

Special recognitions (no prize money) were awarded to:
Luc Vernimmen (Belgium)          
Neda Khodaverd (Iran)
Vladimir Vasiliev (Russia)          
Nikolai Vorontcov (Russia)                        
Keyvan Varesi (Russia)

Two Special acknowledgments and a cash prize of 150 euros was awarded to Serafim Bakoulis (Greece) and Salar Eshratkhah (Iran).

First, second and third prize were awarded to:

1st prize and 1000 euros
Tommy Thomdean (Indonesia)
2nd prize and 800 euros
Nikola Listeš (Croatia)
3rd prize and 500 euros
Dušan Gadjanski (Serbia)

Certificates and testimonies were received by the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, His Excellency Parviz Esmaeili, the second secretary and head of the Office for Protocol and Consular Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr Susilo Wahyuntoro and the attache of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia, Mr Đorđe Žakula.

The Salon Grand Prix was won by Mr Dragutin Dado Kovačević (Croatia).

The certificate and Grand Prix testimony in the name of the sponsor of the 14th Salon, the Mayor, Mr Milan Bandić, and the City of Zagreb, was handed to the daughter of the awarded author, Mrs Korana Gjalski Filipović by the head of the City Office for Education, Mr Ivica Lovrić, MSc, and he announced this unique exhibition will receive their support in the years to come.

In the name of the awarded authors and all participating authors of the Salon, art historian Mrs Branka Hlevnjak stressed the importance and role of caricature in the past and today in a short speech.

The secretary general of the Croatian Friendship Associations, Mr Andrija Karafilipović, was also present at the opening. The opening program was hosted by TV host Mr Mirko Fodor, who invited us all to next year’s 15th Zagreb International Salon of Car Caricatures.

The exhibition will remain open in the lobby of the City Administration (Stjepan Radić Square 1) Monday to Friday from 8 am to 3 pm from November 26 to December 7, 2020.
